La Dolce Vita

Federico Fellini’s chic Italian masterpiece reaches across celluloid boundaries to spin the tale of Marcello Rubini, a playboy journalist who lives for nothing but sex and partying in Rome, a city "full of lies, decorations and subterfuge." Trapped in the emptiness and pure decadence of his surroundings, Marcello is constantly searching for fulfilment until a gorgeous Hollywood starlet (played by Anita Ekberg) comes to town and he becomes totally enamoured with her. Fellini’s film is also prophetic in that it basically heralded societal hedonism of the decades to come.
